Explore different ways of looking at difficulties in your life.What is Counselling?Whilst counselling does not profess to be the answer to all your problems, it does provide you with the opportunity to focus upon yourself and explore different ways of looking at difficulties in your life. With support and encouragement the way forward can become clearer, confidence can be gained to make those changes however small, which can make a big difference. Counselling works on the knowledge that you, the client knows best and ultimately you are probably already aware of the way forward but this is obscured by the complexities of your presenting problem. The approach I use is very versatile and creative, incorporating the foundations and qualities of person centered counselling and the holistic aspects of Gestalt counselling and psychotherapy. My aim is to provide a flexible and personalised therapy which can include a variety of methods. This could be by incorporating relaxation techniques, guided visualisation, meditation or one of the other holistic therapies I am qualified in (Reiki and Crystal Therapy). These can be very insightful therapies and are idea for those who feel too tense or emotional for talking in the initial stages and are also very effective in supporting withdrawal from alcohol and drug addition. I understand that making the first step towards positive change by undertaking counselling can be very scary and how difficult it can be to talk about personal and painful aspects of your life especially in the initial stages of building a trusting relationship. There is nothing to fear - as the saying goes 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'. Your CounsellorSue Cartwright is bound by the British Association of Counselling and Psychology Code of Ethics and Practice. She offers both short and long term counselling for individuals and couples. AppointmentsCounselling sessions are for 50 minutes duration. After the first session, if you would like further sessions a contract is negotiated and usually an initial number of 6 weekly sessions is appropriate, which can be reviewed as work progresses. |
