Pregnancy Massage - Because a Relaxed Mum has a Relaxed Baby
A Mum-to -be-Massage is a lovely treatment to receive and has lots of benefits. It reduces aches and pains, makes you more relaxed, gives you a ‘feel good’ factor and as many of my clients have commented ‘makes you feel normal again!’
It is a safe and effective treatment for all pregnant women in their second and third trimester. It can be taken right up till giving birth and can also be a very useful tool in early labour. Anyone who has had problems in their pregnancy or a history of miscarriages should discuss this with Jane Hobbs the pregnancy massage therapist prior to booking an appointment.
The massage can be taken as a 60 or 90 minute treatment although we would recommend a 90 minute treatment for the first session as it includes an initial health consultation and gives you a chance to ask any questions about the treatment. The treatment is taken in a safe side lying position and you are given plenty of pillows and cushions to make you and your bump as comfortable as possible.
You will receive a full body massage which normally excludes the stomach (this is your special area!). However we are happy to massage the stomach if desired. We design the session around you and your particular requirements and will focus on the parts of your body that are most in need of massaging such as an aching lower back, heavy legs or swollen ankles. Although you will be undressed down to your underwear you will be covered with towels at all times and only the area being massaged will be exposed. As you are side lying the massage is given in two halves so the whole of the body is covered.
The oil used is specially blended by Hilary Leach, a local aromatherapist and is 100% safe to use in pregnancy. It contains a nurturing blend of essential oils including Mandarin, Geranium, Rosewood and Frankincense which are mixed with a rich blend of Avocado and Sunflower oils.
