Sports Massage/Sports & Physical Injury Rehabilitation

For Healthy Muscles and Joints

Ed Hutton brings his skills to Renaissance as a Sport and Physical Injury Rehabilitator, having recently moved to Birmingham. He can diagnose, treat, and develop tailored preventative programmes for musculoskeletal injuries.

Musculoskeletal injuries are not just confined to elite athletes!

Diagnosis • Treatment • Prevention

Whether you are a regular athlete or sportsperson, an occasional golfer, work in an office, or simply want to remain fit with healthy muscles and joints, Sports and Physical Injury Rehabilitation can meet your personal objectives, help you maintain them and ultimately enhance your performance.

Diagnosis

We’ve all experienced that muscle twinge, back, neck and shoulder pain, sprains and strains, nagging injuries that never quite heal, or joint stiffness at some time in our lives. Recognise the symptoms? The important consideration is not to leave it and think or hope it will just get better. Things may improve in the short term, but that discomfort often recurs, and without specialist diagnostic intervention, the problems may never really heal. Biomechanical and muscular control analysis will help identify inherent functional weaknesses and determine appropriate treatment options.

Treatment

A treatment and rehabilitation strategy using proven techniques is tailored to your individual needs, and your long-term personal objectives. Specialist treatments include core stability correction; sports massage and mechanical stimulation of essential body systems; soft tissue release (Myofascial, Trigger Point Therapy, and Muscle Energy Techniques); and applied functional exercise rehabilitation.

Prevention

Correct diagnosis and treatment lay the foundations for effective and long-term prevention. That is when continuous improvement programmes and regular assessment updates are essential to maintain optimal body efficiencies that help to avoid recurrence of the problems. This stage in the rehabilitation process will see you return to pre-injury condition and often even better. It is the combined effort of both practitioner and patient that produces successful outcomes and you will find you have more confidence in your chosen activities.

Your Therapist

Ed Hutton qualified with a BSc in Exercise and Sport Sciences at The University of Exeter and enhanced his knowledge and skills at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham as a Graduate Sport Rehabilitator (GSR). This enabled him to gain full professional membership of The British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT) – the organisation at the forefront of sport and exercise based injury diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention.
