Are you what you eat?Good nutrition is the foundation for great health. What we eat has a powerful and long lasting effect on what and who we are, and what we may become. Our bodies are built, repaired and fuelled bythe food and drink we choose to consume. A Nutritional Therapist can help us understand how our current diet and lifestyle may be contributing to our health concerns, and how by adjusting what we eat, and therefore our nutrient intake, many of our conditions can be alleviated or prevented, helping us to look and feel fantastic and perform at our best. Nutritional Therapists recognise that we are all unique in terms of our biology, lifestyle and preferences, and therefore in our individual nutritional needs. What suits one person may not necessarily suit another. For this reason, every Nutritional Therapy treatment plan is tailored to meet the individual specific nutritional requirements, likes, dislikes, lifestyle and practical considerations of the person it is designed for. In most cases this treatment plan will first and foremost provide advice on practical dietary changes although advice on lifestyle changes may also be given. Supplementation and diagnostic testing may also be recommended where appropriate. But, we don’t have to be ill to benefit from Nutritional Therapy! It is equally relevant for those who are looking for specialist advice to support an aspect f their lifestyle such as those looking for sports nutrition, weight management or specific disease prevention advice and also for those simply wishing to pursue a healthier lifestyle and feel great. Nutritional Therapy can often work well alongside traditional, conventional medical treatment but it is intended to complement, not replace the relationship you have with your medical practitioner. What sort of conditions can Nutritional Therapy help?Nutritional Therapy can help alleviate, manage and prevent many conditions. Some of the most common areas seen include:
And many others ...... Who is it suitable for?Nutritional Therapy is suitable for all, whatever your starting point or stage in life. Tamara is qualified for and experienced in the treatment of children as well as adults. What can I expect from a consultation?Prior to your initial consultation you will be asked to complete and return a questionnaire which asks about your past medical history, family health, current health issues, diet and lifestyle. You will also be asked to complete and return a three day food diary. At your consultation we will discuss these areas more fully and how your current food choices and, possibly lifestyle choices, may be affecting any symptoms you may be having. This will help clarify for you any areas which may require change. The consultation is also your opportunity to ask any questions and discuss any concerns you may have about your health and will usually last about an hour and fifteen minutes. A follow up consultation will usually be recommended for the following month. This appointment provides an opportunity to assess how you are doing and to make any appropriate changes to your treatment plan to help you stay on track and achieve your goals. Additional follow up appointments are often recommended with a frequency dependent upon you individual needs, requirements and situation.
