| Acupuncture for Babies and Children - Shonishin |
The TreatmentAt the initial consultation, which lasts about an hour a medical history and discussion of symptoms will take place. I will then take the child’s pulse and feel his or her abdomen to help with diagnosis. Initial treatment consists of a gentle massage using shonishin “tools”. The treatment is administered quickly usually within 15 to 20 minutes and is most effective when given frequently until the symptoms are alleviated. If appropriate at later treatments parents will learn to given shonishin massage at home (a silver spoon makes an effective shonishin tool.)
